The RJ-45 network connector is a small plastic part, but it decides whether your internet runs at full speed. Clips snap off, contacts corrode, cables fray where they enter the plug, and during renovations wires are often cut "for now". It looks like anyone can crimp a cable, yet a badly terminated line is one of the most common causes of slow, unstable wired internet.
Why crimping needs care
A network cable contains eight thin wires twisted in pairs. For gigabit speed, all eight must sit in a strict order according to the T568B or T568A standard, with the pairs untwisted as little as possible at the connector. Mix up the wires and the line may seem to work, but only at 100 Mbps or with errors that show up as dropped video calls and stuttering games. Press the contacts poorly and the connection drops every time the cable is touched.
Materials matter too. Cheap connectors with thin contacts soon work loose, and thick Cat 6 or outdoor cable needs dedicated plugs. A professional crimping tool and a cable tester guarantee that every line meets the standard. We also note the result of each test, so if a problem ever appears later it's clear whether the cable or the equipment is to blame.
When you need crimping
- the clip has broken and the connector falls out of the port;
- wired internet only works with the cable in a certain position;
- the computer shows a 100 Mbps link instead of 1 Gbps;
- the cable was cut during renovation or when moving furniture;
- a line needs shortening or extending;
- you want a proper network socket instead of a wire sticking out of the wall;
- installed cable needs connecting to a switch or patch panel.
How we work
- Line check. Using a tester we find which wires are intact, where any break is, and which standard the other end uses.
- Cable preparation. We strip the jacket carefully without nicking the wire insulation and straighten the pairs.
- Crimping. We use quality connectors suited to the cable type and a professional tool, adding protective boots where needed.
- Sockets and patch panels. We punch the cable down into network sockets and patch panels with the proper tool.
- Testing. We check all eight wires, their order and pairing, and measure the real link speed.
If the line is damaged in the middle — cut during renovation, for example — we can join it with a proper coupler or replace just the damaged section instead of the whole run.
Crimping for offices and cameras
In offices and shops we tidy up the cabling: re-terminating old lines, connecting them to a patch panel, labelling and testing them. For CCTV systems we terminate outdoor cables with moisture protection so PoE cameras keep working reliably in any weather.
